Before founding Benjamin Roberts Law, Ben spent the early years of his legal career on the other side—defending insurance companies. That experience gave him an insider’s understanding of exactly how carriers evaluate claims, where they look for weaknesses in a plaintiff’s case, and how they decide whether to fight or settle. It also convinced him he was on the wrong side. Frustrated by a system that prioritized keeping insurance companies satisfied over doing right by injured people, Ben made the decision to switch sides and dedicate his practice to representing the individuals those carriers were trained to underpay.
Ben transitioned to plaintiff’s personal injury work in 2010, joining a prominent Houston plaintiff’s firm where he quickly proved himself as an effective advocate for injured clients. Over the next eight years, he gained first-chair trial experience, rose from associate to senior associate, and was ultimately named the firm’s first partner—a trajectory that reflected both his work ethic and his results. That experience cemented a conviction he still carries today: thorough preparation is what drives full-value results. Most injury cases settle without a trial, and Ben’s goal is always to resolve claims efficiently—but only after the case is fully prepared to demand what it’s worth. If an insurer won’t pay fairly, the firm is ready for the courtroom.
In 2018, Ben founded Benjamin Roberts Law on that principle. A fifth-generation Texan and native Houstonian, he represents clients in serious personal injury matters, including 18-wheeler and commercial vehicle collisions, premises liability, catastrophic injuries, and wrongful death claims. With a team of experienced litigators, negotiators, and support staff with inside knowledge of the insurance claims industry, the firm has successfully represented injured victims not only in Houston but throughout the nation.
In addition to personal injury, Ben has extensive experience handling toxic tort and mass tort cases, including chemical exposure and smoke inhalation claims, representing plaintiffs in both single event individual claims, and mass tort events involving thousands of plant workers and nearby residents exposed to hazardous chemicals released from refineries and industrial facilities along the Houston Ship Channel and Texas City area. He also served as liaison counsel in the In re Chevron Refinery Fire, representing the common interests of over 17,000 plaintiffs who suffered smoke inhalation and other injuries in the Richmond, California area.
Beyond the courtroom, Ben serves on the Board of Directors of Arms Wide, a nonprofit committed to guiding families in the Greater Houston and South Texas region through the foster care, adoption, and kinship care processes. He also serves as Master of Ceremonies and committee member for the Houston Bar Association Fun Run, which benefits The Center for Pursuit in Houston.
Outside the office, Ben enjoys traveling with his wife and their two young daughters. He is also an assistant coach in the West University Softball Association, where he helps coach his daughters' 6U and 8U teams.
